For my current budget I'm running a Nova + Forb/Life/no block sorc with A2 HF merc using insight treachery vgaze.

Been thinking of a merc setup to increase dps in the form of A5 frenzy with Plague + Crescent Moon (treachery, vgaze).

CM for static field Plague for LR + Cleansing.

Reasoning behind using CM on merc is I find teleing into/near mobs and not instantly casting nova puts me in a lot of danger due to lack of fhr stunlock.

LR is again just for dps increase not to break LI (that's what FO is for)

Currently using eschuta's but would consider swapping for CM on sorc too to further increase dps.

Thoughts? Own experience with something similar?

-LR on merc doesn't work with your Nova.

I'd use Reaper's Toll, if I couldn't afford Infinity.

Mine is Nova/Fire Ball sorc, who I just equipped today and not completed yet. 80 stats and 15ish skill points left and res'es are terrible but can do Chaos. I'll get her some res sc's and skillers

Based on LoD, D2R might be totally different.

I believe you're confusing Lower Resist with -res from gear. Lower Resist (curse) applies to the monster irrespective of how it was cast (merc, wand with charges, other player).

Thx, that's D2R thing. That rune word doesn't exist in LoD.

By saying -LR doesn't work, I meant -light res from Infinity.

Anyways, Reaper's Toll is great for improving survivability.

i like the idea of LR curse thought about that in D2L as well, but the only consistent way there (without using charges) is Meduza's Gaze, which requires an A3 merc :/

No offence but perhaps do a bit of googling (or maybe read the post you're commenting on) before posting.

As mentioned in the original post in this discussion ("CM for static field Plague for LR + Cleansing.") there exists a new runeword called Plauge which grants 20% chance when struck to cast lvl12 LR

thats why I said I tried to use LR proc in D2L (old D2), but didn't work there without the new rune word. curious if that works with plague rw in D2R, please share your experience
(maybe should have stated this clearer)
