You realize we WANT him to opt in, right? It would be a disaster if he opted out and went into the open market. Would have to dish out a 4-5 year to keep him.
Now he's opting into his remaining option year and reportedly agreeing to a team friendly 2 year player option extension. Win-win scenario, especially considering the Sixers couldn't replace him with anything more than a MLE if he walked. It's not about the money per year (irrelevent for this current team now), it's about the years.
I'll gladly take the only player in the NBA this season to average 20+ points and 10+ assists per game. And that was his "washed up" form coming off a major injury after having no off-season or training camp.
