i should have writen it a bit earlier, but well...
the rule set of AOW (this was the biggest german pvp board in 1.08 and 1.09) was created in 1.08/1.09. this rule set particular most of it in 1.09.

refering to items we have now, wasnt a thing back then. verdungos was implemented in the game version of 1.10, same goes for enigma. but the biggest part of all was the changing of 75% pvp dmg reduction to 50% with 1.09.
so in the beginning of BvB the setup was pretty much 4os lifer + ccsoq/ccboq + and now you could have used gaze(25)+storm(35)+string(15) = 75
remember gaze .08 had 25% base dr not 20% and in addition you had another 16%LL to your rings

So with the beginning of 1.09 most of the pvp were fucked with the LL gear + the DR change, cuz it wasnt possible to leech anymore and gaze lost its value over arreats. and not to forget we had another arreats version in 1.09.
Basically what we did was creating a rule set around the 50% DR cap and alongside with crafting receipes (also implemented) and the implementation of runes in 1.09 our intention was to pull as much players into pvp as we could and 45% felt in case of the variety and affordability at best.
low string + storm = matched | storm+Ber = pretty much matched | rare armor, rare shield and so on and on
(you know a 2% off disadvantage aint huge compared to a gain on the other side and visa versa)

So in the end you could use a rare belt, an crafted ow belt, an unique belt. thats the intention of creating rules especially in d2. giving as much options for players and builds as you can and setting up the rest around it.
when we would have set up a rule set for the best build @ 50%DR, then 99% would look today like Fortitude+Grief+Verdungos+Storm and thats it. and in addition you would have destroyed the beauty of the game of its rares, crafts and any other flexibilty of your gear build. With 50% DR youll kill any belt-build compared to verdungos. With grief you kill any rare-weapon build. Even tho the psn rule was created due to the fact, to prevent killing rare weapon builds for an unfortunate affix spawn.
And as soon as 1.10 launched even the most powerful runeword enigma didnt changed anything about the 50%DR rule.

And so you have what you see here

That's why I like AoW because it gives a lot of build possibilities

Using forti + grief is rly boring for me and anything u can change is ur helm..
Dunno why NA and Asia doesn't like it

Because they haven't explored yet how far bvb could be from
grief/forti/angelics and random wws...and yes the mana pots.

Up the EU aow section

According to my calculator the best Setup for free for all GM-BVB-duels is Eth Toothrow over Fortitude + dual visio Helm + 36/20 inventory-Barb.

And in terms of AOW-BvB i came to the conclusion, that perfect Enigma Barb is better than any godly Tank setup because of the lack in runspeed since Highlord 1.08 is gone 4ever.
