Absolutely. This is exactly how it's done. Livers are rare, and go to the ones who will make the best use of it. If you can't stop drinking to save your liver transplant you don't get one.

So you lose your liver from drinking and stop drinking to get one back and start drinking again once you get it ?

Taking someones ability to get a transplant does NOT coincide with the fact that they need a vaccine for a virus labeled as a common cold.

No one gets small pox shots anymore because we wiped out small pox using vaccines but I'd bet if we were in a global small pox pandemic, you'd be required to have the shot to set foot in a hospital.

I don't think stopping drinking is enough to get a liver, you must prove that you didn't cause your illness. Would be a wasted liver otherwise.
