I don't buy it - it's a good reserve currency but it doesn't function well as a means of payment for high volume daily commerce

Gz on your hold though :) My bro was telling me to buy some when it was around 2k USD, wish I had listened.

Sure

so it loses the bulletproof security of BTC and requires an aspect of trust - I don't see how it's so revolutionary compared to the modern creditcard architecture.

What. It doesn't lose any of that lol. LN is built on top of the bitcoin network.

You still have non custodial LN wallets with an option for custodial ones. It's still a trustless setup

Just wanted to add, the destruction of the us dollar
will take decades. Every government issued current has met the same fate: death. This isn't something that will happen in the next few years. Probably 30+
