To my surprise I've now watched 9 episodes and the cringe hasn't set in. Yes it's still waifu bait and Marin acts like a grade schooler/J-Pop idol but I've since taken the anime less seriously and started to enjoy it as some lighthearted feel good teenage lovestory (even though they all look like they are 21+ except for the oldest girl in the series who looks like shes 10)
