Im going to replace the media panel in my 2021 crosstrek from the base model's 6.5" screen panel to the 8" screen panel when i install new speakers.
Ive never replaced an entire 'infotainment' system before.
Anyone ever do something similar? Would that component be registered to the VIN of the previous (in this case a totaled 2021 crosstrek) vehicle ? Would it matter?

Let me start by saying.....i wouldn't. This is a new vehicle with god knows what running through the stereo for chimes and all that crap.

Unless you got bank to not have to rely on salvage equipment its better to leave it alone.

Don't get over your head cause your not happy with your overall car choice cause doing this DIY can cost your warranty pretty easy.

What is the power output and ohm rating for the head unit you are trying to install?

got starlink? i have no idea what happens to this if you swap radios. Probably won't work anymore.

GPS....idk how gps works through subaru so might not have this either. Chances are it won't like swapping factory head units around in most cases.

Really need to step back and think....my 20K+ car.....should i DIY myself into a world i don't know anything about and void my warranty?

I'd say no.

Either buy an aftermarket head unit with the specs you want and match speakers or leave it alone cause compatibility is a huge unknown.
