The immense decline in player numbers are a result of chain fatal mistakes the company made over the past months. These mistakes started nearly a decade ago and were at peak when scandals got to the surface of the Internet.

I would say merging servers is the first step to fill up the gap of players who left and most certainly will not return until Diablo 4. The reasons behind their quitting Diablo 2 and Diablo 2R are very different but have one ground and that is quantity over quality of the gaming industries biggest leader which is imo Activision among others.

The second step would be making D2R playable with shit Grafics on low Computers so even Legacy players can enjoy the game without buying D2R Key. Basically we would need one huge realm for all to connect on from different clients meeting in the real D2R. That would indeed resurrect both players, those wo like the old game and the ones who like the new. The legacy button should be reworked. I know that this will reduce the profit gains Activision gets from sold D2R copies but the immense failure of D2R launch and complete ruining the old version without giving any updates set it for a downfall. They owe the playerbase not only apologies but action.

D2r was always gonna make the older players who are incredibly rich from botted bugged items mad, d2r pk is fine and fun with a few exceptions, let legacy go, it’s eye herpes, dead and full of rubbish

they only way people are going to forget about D2 is if they can make D2R an equal
so far D2 is a much better game than D2R
D2R just looks ALOT better

i played D2 for 15+ years as much as possible and never got bored and never quit
was bored of D2R 2 weeks ago and have hardly played since
looking for another game to play now -_-

not going back to D2 as like you said it looks fucking horrible after seeing D2R

Yeah, it is.

Look I don't know what your personal issue is, whether it's not wanting to refarm gear, not having the money for a new PC, or being so butt hurt that Blizzard actually fixed bugs that you liked abusing to cheese out wins, but it is indeed the same game, and it is a very clear massive improvement.
