I haven't used conventional weights in a decade been deadlifting for about 6 weeks my max is about 330


I bench for the first time today in 9 or 10 years and did 190x5 floor press. Have never floor pressed before. Assuming it's easier since you don't go down as far but should have de ent carryover from what I read

My ultimate goal is 405 bench 500 dl I don't really squat it fucks with my spine

Thinking a good goal is 315 bench and 405 deadlift by end of 2022

I don’t know how you’re built but a 405 bench is a fuck ton and if you can bench that you should be able to dl over 600. I had a 405 max dl, and could do 365x8 dl but couldn’t even bench 225. I’ve never done floor bench but i don’t think it compares to benching say on a bench lol, the range of motion isn’t the same at all

Ye but you gotta realize floor pressing is coming to a dead stop every rep, even a little bit of momentum from regular benching would help tremendously

I'm just assuming if I don't train chest or triceps and I wall into gym and bench 225 first time I should have good genetics for benching

I should have noob gains on it for the first few months where I'm progressing relatively quickly , I'm going to see how many times I can get 215 in a few days when my bench comes

But I know how you feel I didn't do much conventional lifts but I've been kettlebell swinging for 2 years straight which works your posterior chain and my deadlift is maybe 330 at 180lbs

Ahh ok you’re 180, how tall? I’m a bit bigger, 5 11” @ 230lbs so deadlifting comes super easy to me. I also hate squats but I do em because of how great of a full body lift they are, I can only max 225 there. Guess most of my strength is in my pulling ability and back.

I did 183x10 my first bench workout after the floor press workout but next workout was 193 x 5 and 183x5 for 4 sets , felt heavy that day. 405 prob a Longshot but will see how jext few months go

405 probably won't be hit on bench in a matter of months, idk where you're at right now for bench but 405 isn't an easy weight to hit. Not saying it's impossible cause of course it isn't, but a realistic time line would be at least a year imo
