I 100% support the idea but tbh I stopped caring about a week ago when I refunded the game.
Unfortunately, their only goal for D2r is clearly to tag sales.
At this point they could care less about the longevity of the game because they know D4 is rolling around soon.
Guarantee you they'd rather appease the 90% ignorant crowd with w/e stupid shit it is that they want in the game, just to get those initial sales.
They do not care about the minority of veterans who wanted to play this game for another 20 years for free, without dumping extra money into the game.

I wish this weren't true, but it is.
The model that companies use to develop & sell games in 2021 is drastically different than what it was in 2000.
These companies no longer care about the quality of their games. They only care about marketing & sales.
And actually, it would seem as if they purposely design games to be expendable with short life spans lately.
This way people migrate to new games much more quickly so they can recycle that big initial sale routine over and over.
They don't want us to play a free game for 20 years and be happy with it. That shit doesn't propagate cash.
