If you disable your adblocker you can watch this 13 minute clip from 60 minutes on the semiconductor shortage, and the transcript is in the link if you would prefer to read.

What are your thoughts on the US subsidizing the semiconductor industry to help compete in the market place? I think its a good idea but am unsure in the political climate how this can be accomplished, let alone keep companies like Intel from siphoning this money to shareholders as Lesley mentions.

Its absolutely necessary. If we break the Chinese/Taiwanese monopoly, we can buy our self a chance as a future as a civilization.

China is currently winning because their government has more money than us, they have more power to bribe moralless shareholders. We should use our power to shove an economic spear through their throat.

This is a national security issue and we need the ability to manufacture here. I suppose an extreme alternative would be to arm Taiwan with nuclear weapons.

Biden. Bush. Clinton. Congress for the last 30+ years. Obama wasn’t really at fault here. Trump was anti-China and got called racist for it by people like you

You can only get it up for Trump it’s quite obvious

I think we can all agree that Clinton is the main culprit in regards to American-Chinese relations. Trump's heart was in the right place but he made some insanely stupid mistakes such as getting rid of the TPP.

The reality is that we can't do this alone. We need strong diplomatic relations to convince our allies to enact our will.
