In public duels some players like to use some form of Slow in order to negate my hard earned IAS breakpoint. I'm interested in building a PvP smiter that can't be slowed. But I don't know if it really works this way...

So I read the cap on Slow in PvP is 50% (is this correct?)

So suppose I'm duelling a smiter who flashes a level 20 Holy Freeze (54% Slow)
And is equiped with...
- Blackhorn's Face (20% Slow)
- Cleglaw's Pincers (25% Slow)
- Nosferatu's Coil (10% Slow)

So that's a wopping 109% Slow against me (54% from skill and 55% from items), but this is capped at 50% (right?).

So if I would equip my smiter with these items:
- 40 IAS Grief Zerker
- 10 IAS Nosferatu's Coil
- Level 27 Fanaticism
I have now hit the maximum IAS breakpoint, but on top of that I wear:
- 20 IAS crafted Blood Gloves
- 20 IAS Highlord's Wrath
- 15 IAS jewel socketed into helm or shield

Now I am 55 IAS above my breakpoint. So if PvP enemies who use Slow have their Slow capped at 50%, this whould still leave me with 5 IAS above my breakpoint, correct?

Slow target is not negative ias
It is negative wsm
Your phase blade is now a warpike

You will have more luck just not doing smite v smite duels
Even if you win it is boring click and hold matchup even without needing to slowly change a dozen items for him

Slow affects your wsm, not your ias

It’s impossible to be immune for such high amounts of slow

At some points your 55 ias will only cover 10% slow, it depends on ur gear and what kind of slow they have

Best use an ias calculator to see the breakpoints vs certain level of freezes and slows, I surely calculated almost every smite vs smite slow situation for my v/t (with ba, with pb, vs 10% slow, vs no slow, vs low holy freeze, vs high holy freeze, etc)

What is wsm?

Your zerker is 0wsm.

Pb is -30wsm.

If you would use pb instead you would be immune to some Basic slow like arach/bb/trangs.

Wsm is the wepon base speed.

I use pb on my smiter to avoid getting slow by such, as well as golem.

I had a hammerdin many years ago.
He had bugtal, Blackhorns, bug belt, gleglaws setup with holy freeze and grief. He crushed smiters with berserker axe grief^^

This all sounds so complicated and not worth the trouble if you ask me. I now think it's more fun to build a regular GM Smiter with 1 point into Holy Freeze, to even out the playing field in case someone tries to slow me. And if they do it with Slow-items or Slow-skills or Slow-skills on items, I really don't think it matter, right? Slow in duels is BM so I can BM them right back.

Just use pb and outplay them.

Your best bet would be to make a good smiter that can duel real opponents and not worry too much about some smoothbrained scrub that wants to svs you
