hello friends i am looking to spend 600-700CAD tops (slightly more if its actually worth it)
on a new PSU and GPU

i use my computer to Bought d2, play d3 /PUBG/ google/youtube ECT ECT


PRO : i7 6700k 8 core
MOBO : DELL 0xj8c4
GPU : GeForce GTX 960
RAM : 24 GIG
psu; dell 460Watt unit


is my current set up

It appears you have a Dell computer based on your motherboard. The issue here with Dell, their PSUs and their motherboards, is that Dell makes their own proprietary cables/connectors between the PSU and motherboard. You, or someone else willing to help, will have to search well in order to find that correct PSU.

My thoughts on this is yes, get a new desktop or build your own. But your original plan is not impossible. It's just more work than expected, more work than your typical DIY approach.

You could also try reaching out to Dell and see if they have spare PSUs that would match that motherboard. There are also third party companies that sell Dell parts.

as far as i remember, connectors are just the same, the size of the psu probably custom.
il still check that option out, your setup aint bad, an upgrade for GPU and PSU would be great.

could put an 3060 here and be very happy ;)

but check carefully for sizes...i bet the case is small also.
