hey all,

Since my graphics card broke i'm stuck with a 2gb GTX 950.
It does a great job for old games like D2/Guild wars. But my newer games have troubles: GTA5 / The witcher / BF5 / Red dead redemption 2
i also have a 2016 Macbook 12" that i use for couch-sitting / web / chilling and Zwift (Indoor cycling)

Next year i will probably move to my GF for job reasons (1-2 years) and i don't want to bring a full game setup there (limited space)

so in 6 months - 1 year there will be a new setup to buy:

I think about going laptop.

i would like to play some of the following games when they come out: Diablo IV - Battlefield 2042 - Age of Empires IV.
and maybe when it ever comes out games like GTA6 - others ???

i would like to play 1080p and best settings on games highlighted and still gain 55-60fps.

What should be minimum to go for?
new processors all seem pretty good, 16gb ram is obvious, and 512gb SSD is least i want.

do i need to go for the RTX 30 series ? or can i settle with something like 1080ti / RTX 20 series?
do i need at least 8gb graphics card? or does 6gb cover evertything?

thanks for some advice :)

Budget doesnt really matter... I can spend 2 k+ ... But if its really overshooting and i can do everything easy for a 1.5k budget...

It is just a question about what is needed...

Well if budget doesn't matter, why not get a small form factor PC? Like the Corsair One?

But sticking to your main request for a laptop, and assuming budget doesn't really matter, check out Alienware or Razer or Asus ROG laptops.

You answered your own question for minimum specs. All the new/latest processors are good. Comparing Intel vs AMD on a general level, Intel will provide more power but uses more electricity. Whereas AMD will use less electricity to be more efficient. The trade-off or incremental increase is up to you but from what I've seen on a general level, it's not worth getting the Intel. But there's no harm in going for the Intel either.

With the laptop's GPU, you should go for the RTX 2000 series or higher. The older laptops with GTX 1060 or higher are still good but I don't think there's new laptops with a GTX in them. It's mostly RTX.

got this in mind:

Razer Blade 15 Base Model - QHD 165Hz - GeForce RTX 3070

11th Gen Intel® Core™ i7-11800H 8 Core (2.4GHz / 4.6GHz)
Windows 10 Home
15.6" QHD 165Hz, 100% sRGB, 4.9 mm bezel, factory calibrated
Discrete: NVIDIA® GeForce RTX 3070 (8GB GDDR6 VRAM)
Integrated: Intel® UHD Graphics
512GB SSD (M.2 NVMe PCIe 4.0 x4) + Open M.2 PCIe 4.0 x4 Slot
16GB dual-channel DDR4-3200MHz (8GB x 2)
Single-zone RGB Powered by Razer Chroma™ anti-ghosting keyboard

its not top of the top, but i guesse it will be future proof to all gaming for next 2-3 years???

Should i get a laptop-stand cooler or is this not needed ?

Will probably wait till oktober to decide / buy since 2 games i want to play (AoE IV + BF 2042) are released then
