Ya it's a pretty big deal IMO. Papa Jeff was one of the last few people who'd been really involved in most projects. Overwatch was LITERALLY him.

Dude in charge of D4 left recently too.

I couldn't be happier to end my WoW sub and I hope to never look back. Games been going downhill and even the classic bot filled servers can't bring back that feeling they used to give me.
It was the company, not the game, and that company is gone.

Metzen came up with the universe (like the other major universes in Blizz games). It was supposed to be an MMO, codename "Titan", which got cancelled. The assets from "Titan" got reused to create Overwatch.
With Kaplan gone too, most of the original creative spark seems to have disappeared from Blizzard. Inb4 he joins Mike Morhaime's company, Dreamhaven, like a lot of other ex-Blizzard employees have.

Metzen came up with the Overwatch universe? I did not know that - I thought he left Kaplan to it. Thanks for the TIL.
And yes, if he doesn't join up with Morhaime and crew now I would be surprised.
