You're walking your dog and a 150lb great Dane breaks through the wooden fence your neighbor has him contained in down the road.

He runs out of his yard to the other side of the street where you're walking and attacks your dog and isn't stopping. Biting shaking etc

What are you allowed to do to that dog to get him to stop?

This situation is highly unlikely as generally it's the little dogs that get out and bite/attack people. However there is no data on this because little dogs that bite go unreported 91% if the time.
For example 3 weeks ago I was bitten on my achilles by my neighbors Pomeranian. It was small enough to get under their chain link fence. Cross the street, run into my yard, come up behind me and bite.
Neighbors and society today see this as acceptable because a little dog can't do much damage.
But a dog bite is a dog bite and all of them should be reported the same.

Break up the dogs, grabbing their back legs usually does it. Next, immediately punch the other owner if they are present. If the dog is 'pack' it will then go to defend owner and stop attacking your dog.

I would never grab an attacking 140 lb great dane's legs. Thats a great way to get redirected on and every nerve ligament and tendon in your arm ripped apart
