For plain jane 24/10 belts not aiming specifically for a 2nd mod, you could go direct for light belts with final alvl 18. So you could go about that a few ways but to make it easiest you could take advantage of the vendor ilvl cap of 20 in a2 norm. This way you can both shop + craft on the same character which saves some time. Not to mention light belts saves a bunch of time over sharkskins.

So if you shop in a2 norm with a level 22 this will ensure all of your base magic belts are ilvl 20. Then crafting with the same char will give a final ilvl of 21. Since final alvl is ilvl - (qlvl/2), with light belt being qlvl 7, this will make your final alvl 18(*see below) which is what you need for 24 fhr.

*Now I am a little confused with this one since I’m not sure exactly where d2 drops decimals and where it doesn’t. Consider this with the alvl = ilvl - (qlvl/2) portion:
If d2 drops the .5 off of the (qlvl/2) here, then you end up with neatly 21-3, giving you the absolutely ideal alvl of 18. If it counts the decimal there, you end up with 21-3.5 giving you 17.5 which would then be dropped to alvl 17 making 24 fhr belts impossible to spawn. You can get around my confusion by simply shopping with a level 24 rather than 22. This will give you a final ilvl of 22, so if d2 does keep the .5 decimal there in the (qlvl/2) portion of the alvl formula, you’re good to go because 22-3.5 is still above 18.

If it was me I would prob shop + craft on lvl 24 in a2 norm just to be safe. Again this is for plain 24/10s not looking for any 2nd mod. Still use 71/1 for 24/5s

Sharkskin, the idea behind those numbers is using the high qlvl of sharkskin to bring down the final alvl while maintaining the ilvl needed for the highest chance of 2 mods. If you used light belt and therefore were only taking 3 off the ilvl to reach your alvl, you’d end up with alvl 36 belts. With sharkskin you bring your alvl down to 20 - just 2 above the requirement of alvl 18 for 24 fhr belts, best we can do. It’s definitely a trade-off spending more time shopping for sharkskins to gain a higher chance at your desired craft. It won’t get you as many plain 24/10s but it will get you more *chances* at a 24/5, still need to get lucky to roll one though.

10/24 belts: 9/1056 Vendor Sharkskin@ lvl 71 Act2 Nightmare Craft Level 1
10/24 belts: 3/228 Vendor Light Belt@ lvl 30 Act2 Nightmare Craft Level 30

such a pity. the amount of time invested in doing that (outside of botting) is just a pain in the ass, better to simply trade for a 10/24/5 i feel.

anyway, an FU:

and another FU:

and a 5/24/20/10 that i wont bother screening.

seeing alot of life + mana combo's and fcr/24fhr combo's but there is a noticed drop in the amount with repl life spawning.

Yeah, I learned the hard way that plain 24/10s you could craft one in a single day for like 66 fg assuming you get mats at 0.25 per. Not worth trading for. But 24/10/5s are simply just better to buy off a botter. You’re looking at minimum 1,000 crafts for one and that’s with luck. Considering the time it takes to shop sharkskins, you either need to be single with no kids or hire a dedicated shop botter to fill mules for you.
