we got our first computer in '94 [I was about 8] which was my uncle's IBM 386, played games like Ultima 1, tank wars, scorched earth, Civ1, everything ran through DOS and we eventually upgraded to Windows 3.1 which I think was installed using 4 or 5 3.5" floppies

'96 we bought the Acer Aspire, had the big new pentium 133, ran games like Civ 2, Sim City, duke nukem 3d, command and conquer, warcraft orcs and humans, diablo 1, red alert, half-life 1, team fortress and even counter strike until they released 1.1

The sales guy told my parents they would never fill the ~1gb hard drive, when D2 came out I could have windows 95 installed, with 0 other software other than diablo 2 and it would completely fill the harddrive, however D2 ran at about 2fps

My first PC already had windows 95, so didn't have to go through the "messing with DOS" period, but I guess using DOS really helped a lot of users understand how PC works.
Pretty cool that you still have that Acer PC lying around, with the nostalgic "Intel Inside" logo.

And when CounterStrike was just released in 2000, playing with bots somehow was really fun lol.
