I've been a fan of FF7 since it was first released and watched my mom play when I was a kid. Overall, I enjoyed FF7:Remake and storyline tweaks and changes they made. But I found the ending of this first installment of the game somewhat incoherent. It certainly foreshadows what's the come (with Meteor and Sephiroth), but I didn't really see why they chose to do what they did there.

Anyone else have thoughts?

I think they’ve ruined the game to be honest... with how ff7 remake ended they’re now giving us a sense of hope that we may be able to save her. IMO it plays out exactly how the original was.

I could be wrong but If she does live then I guess the whole dynamic and story of FF7 is completely changed and it’ll be an overall new game because the whole premise of the original game was revolved around her death.

I will be playing the 2nd part but I’m not entirely looking forward to it, I have to say that they should’ve left this game alone or had it remastered.

I remember a few of Cloud's "episodes" forshadowing her death. But yeah, there's no way it remains FF7 if she survives.

I get what you mean about the ending though. It was certainly not what I was expecting.
