Guide to Summon Grizzly

Inspired by the Valkyrie guide I decided to make this^^

This info is not my own, it gathered from amazon basin, d2jsp and such.
Especially the shaman topic, please watch ghoomshill’s post. Post #5 in topic first page.
https://forums.d2jsp.org/topic.php?t=82006556&f=87
https://www.theamazonbasin.com/wiki/index.php/Summon_Grizzly
There is a pet-calculator however there are some mistakes in it. Those mistakes are listed in the amazon basin.
http://tph.tuwien.ac.at/~gottwald/druid_pet_calculator.html

Summons grizzly:
This boon grants the Druid the aid of a tremendous wild bear with huge claws and great fangs that fights ferociously alongside him with terrible strength and unmatched fury

General info:
The grizzly has 50% chance to strike and normal attack and 50% chance to strike a smite attack.
This smite attack skill level depends on difficulty:
Normal: lvl 1 (15% ED / 0,6 seconds stun)
Nightmare: Lvl 4 (60% ED / 1,2 seconds stun)
Hell: Lvl 8 (120% ed / 2 seconds stun)
If u cast battle command on grizzly he will gain 1 more skill to it.
* 15% ed each skill lvl
* Stun length: = 0,4+(0,2*BearSmiteSlvl)

As any druid summoning skills its not the base skill lvl(blvl) that counts as syntenergies, it’s the total skill lvl (slvl)

• Can summon either Spirit Wolves, Dire Wolves or Grizzly but not a combination: summoning another type of wolf or bear will dispel existing wolves or bear.
• Summon Spirit Wolf and Summon Dire Wolf passive bonuses are based on skill level when summoned (as is Summon Grizzly skill level).
• 50% chance of using Bear Smite, an attack which requires a hit-check and cannot be blocked, and which knocks back eligible targets upon a successful attack. Stun length is not applied.
• 40% chance of running to next target.
• Can be put into hit recovery and knocked back (that from items has 25% chance of applying).
• Can open doors.

Some info from the shaman topic:

Grizzly:
There are a lot of summoning nuances I could go into detail about, like how HOW/OAK interact, but these are best given by googling the "Druid Pet Calculator". The short story is that Grizzly will choose the nearest target with its AI, and move to it. If you teleport on top of this, it will hit him immediately. If it was going after someone else, it will either move off for a second or take a moment to rechoose its target. Hence, dueling in an area filled with fallen can mess with your grizzly's brains and make him not hit. However, once the area is cleared, the grizzly will make a beeline for your opponent. It often takes a short hop around your opponent for the AI to *sink*. However, if your grizzly starts a swing at your opponent, and you teleport on top of him (moving the grizzly while he's swining), the swing will still connect! The game only checks if the target is in range at the end of the animation. Likewise, if your target teleports away before the blow lands, it will not strike. However, I have seen occasions where a grizzly *misses* its attack due to being out of range, but it will still activate secondary "on attack" effects, like it will drain an ES sorcs mana, break a necro's bone armor, get chilled from frost armor, all without dealing damage. This can be played to your advantage, since stomping on these flighty characters can break their defenses unfairly.
Your grizzly will have 85% resists in hell, which are not stacked (-%resists will have the expected effect). He'll attack at either 12 or 17 frames, but this is enormously faster than it seems, since it is handled serverside, as I mentioned above. He has a 10 frame FHR, and typically around 8000ish attack rating, meaning he has no problems at all hitting casters.

Formulas:
The GESTEP formulas are used where there are breakpoints at skill level which change formula.
The IF formulas are used where skills max out at certain number, or when there is a chance that u have forexample 0 skills to Spirit wolf.

Monster level:
MonsterLvl = Clvl
MLvl Defense add:
=((15*Mlvl+132) * (GESTEP(Mlvl)-GESTEP(Mlvl;19)) + (15*Mlvl+131) * (GESTEP(Mlvl;20)-GESTEP(Mlvl;39)) + (15*Mlvl+130) * (GESTEP(Mlvl;40)-GESTEP(Mlvl;59)) + (15*Mlvl+129) * (GESTEP(Mlvl;60)-GESTEP(Mlvl;79)) + (15*Mlvl+128) * (GESTEP(Mlvl;80)))
Mlvl Attack Rating add:
=Mlvl*38+178

Grizzly Defense:
BaseDef = 245 + MlvlDefense
% defense = IF(SpiritWolfSlvl >0;40+(10*SpiritWolfSlv);0)
Total defense = BaseDef*(1+(%defense/100))

Grizzly Attack Rating:
=ROUNDDOWN((605+(20*GrizzlySlvl)*1+IF(SpiritWolfSlvl>0;25*SpiritWolfSlvl;0)+(Mlvl*38+178))*(1+((FanaAR%+HowAR%+Enchant%)/100));0)

Grizzly Life:
Min life: 550
Max life: 750
% life: = IF(DireWolfSlvl >0;25+(25*DirewolfSlvl);0)
Grizzly max life total: =GrizzlyMaxLife*(1+((OakLife%+BOlife%+GrizzlyLife%)/100))
“Since grizzly got such a high %life baked in, Battle order and Oak has a small output on his total life”

Crit chance: 5%

Resists(resists max out at 85, and they are not stacked) :
=IF(GrizzlySlvl>18;85;(ROUNDDOWN(5*GrizzlySlvl-5,85;0)))

FasterHitRecovery:
10 frames
0,40 seconds

Grizzly’s Damage:
Dmg%: =15+10*GrizzlySlvl

Smite% = 15*(8+1) <- 8+1 is if battle command, else 8+0.

Min Physical:
=((10*GrizzlySlvl+20) * (GESTEP(GrizzlySlvl)-GESTEP(GrizzlySlvl;9)) + (15* GrizzlySlvl -20) * (GESTEP(GrizzlySlvl;9)-GESTEP(GrizzlySlvl;17)) + (20* GrizzlySlvl -100) * (GESTEP(GrizzlySlvl;17)-GESTEP(GrizzlySlvl;23)) + (26* GrizzlySlvl -232) * (GESTEP(GrizzlySlvl;23)-GESTEP(GrizzlySlvl;29)) + (30* GrizzlySlvl -344) * (GESTEP(GrizzlySlvl;29)))

Max Physical:
=((10*GrizzlySlvl+50) * (GESTEP(GrizzlySlvl)-GESTEP(GrizzlySlvl;9)) + (15* GrizzlySlvl +10) * (GESTEP(GrizzlySlvl;9)-GESTEP(GrizzlySlvl;17)) + (20* GrizzlySlvl -70) * (GESTEP(GrizzlySlvl;17)-GESTEP(GrizzlySlvl;23)) + (26* GrizzlySlvl -202) * (GESTEP(GrizzlySlvl;23)-GESTEP(GrizzlySlvl;29)) + (30* GrizzlySlvl -314) * (GESTEP(GrizzlySlvl;29)))

Average Damage with auras:
=(MinPhy+MaxPhy)/2*(1+((Dmg%+How%+FanaParty%+Might%+Conc%)/100))

Average Smite Damage with auras:
=(MinPhy+MaxPhy)/2*(1+((Dmg%+Smite%+How%+FanaParty%+Might%+Conc%)/100))
Grizzly has 50% chance to use smite and 50% chance to use normal attack. And 5% chance to crit.

So full average dmg is:
=((AverageDmgWAura*0,5)+(AverageSmiteDmgWAura*0,5))*1,05
IF u want to know how much a average Crit hit is, u just multiply with 2 instead of 1,05. Just remember this happens 1 out of 50 times.

Attack speeds:
* Frame BearSmite: =IF(FanaLvl<1;17;IF(FanaLvl<6;14;IF(FanaLvl<23;13;12)))
Wich basicly means:
Fana lvl 0 = 17 frames
Fana lvl 1 to 5 = 14 frames
Fana lvl 6 to 22 = 13 frames (faith and beast = same attack speed for grizzly)
Fana lvl 23 + = 12 frames
BearSmite pr sec: =25/frame
AI delay: 15frames / 0,6 seconds

* Normal Bear attack: =IF(FanaLvl<1;12;IF(FanaLvl<3;11;IF(FanaLvl<11;10;9)))
Which basicly means:
Fana lvl 0 = 12 frames
Fana lvl 1 to 2 = 11 frames
Fana lvl 3 to 10 = 10 frames
Fana lvl 11+ = 9 frames
So on normal attack there is different between Beast and Faith.
Normal attack pr sec: =25/frame

Auras and such that aids the grizzly in battle:

How:
Ar: =18+7*HowSlvl
ED: = =13+7*HowSlvl

Fana:
Ar: =IF(FanaSlvl<1;0;5*FanaSlvl+35)
Party ED%: =IF(FanaSlvl<1;0;(33+(17*FanaSlvl))/2)
SelfED%: =IF(FanaSlvl<1;0;33+(17*FanaSlvl))
Eias add: =IF(FanaSlvl<1;0;ROUNDDOWN(10+(30*((110*FanaSlvl)/(FanaSlvl+6))/100);0))

Concentration:
ED%: =IF(ConcSlvl<1;0;45+(15*ConcSlvl))
Hdong%: =IF(ConcSlvl<1;0;ROUNDDOWN((45+(15*ConcSlvl))/2;0))

Might:
ED%: =IF(MightSlvl<1;0;30+(10*MightSlvl))

Enchant casted from stick:
218% AR

Battle Order:
Life% : =32+(3*Slvl)
Duration: =20+(10*Slvl)

Oak:
Life%: =25+5*Slvl

How is way better than Oak, u can read about it in the shaman topic.
As well as oak has very little impact to grizzly life (most people dont know how wrong the pet calculator is at this point)

it should be noted that while grizzly lists 0.6/1.2/2.0 stun duration in its grizzlysmite skill parameters, the skill was nerfed in 1.10 and no longer applies the stun debuff at all. It used to in 1.09. It still knockbacks and interrupts. But because its a monster skill, the AI has a 15 frame delay after each time it uses smite, so there's a 50% chance on any given attack that your grizzly will get +120% ed and knockback but also "self-stun itself" for 15 frames- that's what the AI delay in the attack speed part of this guide means. So instead of 12/17 frame attack speed, its kind of like 12/32 frame attacks. They do however have fast action frames early in those animations, which is what makes it far more suitable for PvP than PvM. In PvP, you can swipe someone off a teleport incredibly fast for hig hdamage. In PvM, your grizzly attacks so slowly that its DPS output is easily eclipse several times over by your mercenary.

you can see the attack speed / delay if you watch a grizzly hit an immobile target in pvm. He'll swipe pretty 'fast' for a random number of swings in a row, then one big hit that knocks them back after which the grizzly briefly does nothing, then resumes attacking with same pattern. Its a 50:50 shot on any given attack whether it uses bearsmite or normal attack.

Thanks a lot for clearifying this better :D

druid summons usually have extremely high attack rating without blessed aim, it can easily be 20k+ even with just 1 point spirit wolf. There's no need for extra AR

Yepp.
This guide dont show the outputs and such, just how it works.
But as long as you use HOW ur ar is getting high extreamly fast, same with beast which helps with some as well.

Many people swear to oak, but oak adds very little life due to the fact grizzly usually have like 500% in the skill itself.

Here is an comparisment, since oak/how max out at lvl 40 on pet calculator i used same on excel spreadsheet.
Both has lvl 46 grizzly, spiritwolf, direwolf.
lvl 13 bo
lvl 9 fana
Zero enchant

So the grizzly's different life between oak and how is:
How: 9563 life, 31619 ar, 11267 average dmg.
Oak: 11250 life, 11907 ar, 8033 average dmg.

U can clearly see that when dealing with grizzly related build HOW > oak.
Oak also dies first by anything, so really dont help shit for grizzly.

Pet calc:

Spreadsheet:

It also looks like petcalculator has been updated since the comment on amazon basin.
The reason why there are small changes in life between my and pet calc is that i did not bother to use average life, i fix that later^^

(minlife+Maxlife)/2*(1+((OakLife%+BOlife%+GrizzlyLife%)/100)) is the best one to use.

THe reason for difference between spreadsheet ar and pet calc ar is due to the missing 300ar in pet calc.
300 * (1+((HOW+Fana)/100)) =
300 * (1+((298+80)/100)) = 1434

1434 + 30185 = 31619

Why dmg is different i have to look into, i used amazon basin numbers...
But i think its due to the fact they dont take HELL smite ED% bonus. As mentioned on amazon basin.
(ofc the average im talking about, as i dont display aura on Norm dmg. I could 1 row for that as well to show same)
The petcalc does not take bc skill bonus to smite either.

My smite dmg(no bc on grizzly itself) : 11361
Pet calc smite dmg (no bc at all) : 10244

If i change my smite dmg to 15% i get 10258. (14 deviance)
If i round down everything to closest full siffer i get 10257
I dno why there are missing 13-14 more average.
