I 100% agree with you and have been very vocal on many different d2 forums/platforms.

There will almost certainly be a limited number of characters, as every Blizzard game on bnet2.0 has a limit. As someone who enjoys LLD, this is a huge deal to me.

I really hope the char limit is close to 50+, and they rethink the shared/large stash.

Nonladder chars are going to be stressed to hell for space, especially in Classic.

The real solution would be a database like character browser, and the ability to transfer items between chars without having to make piles around the campfire, or without having to put them into a locker to then be picked up.

Think: playing "inventory Tetris" with several characters on screen, say 8, and dragging and dropping items across between them.

Mules are a great opportunity to sort and memorize and organize the stuff, and it's part of the fun to a certain point. It's an incentive to make and level up new chars, of course.
A shared stash is an awkward transferring solution when tiny OR just a giant "to do list" of boring stuff to sort through when it gets large and multi-tabbed.

I don't want a shared stash, shared stash smells like every MMO out there, yuk, pfui and blerg!

It's pretty obvious to me that any "reasons" blizz gives for not including shared stash for classic are just excuses because they are too incompetent to separate the classic chars from the xpac ones. People would be rocking xpac gear on classic within the first week and they know they suck too much to stop it.
