Seems like a good chicken thread is needed for this sub.

Backyard birds, barnyard birds, show birds, whatever you have let's see them.

Also if anyone has questions on coop construction, getting started, egg or pullet supplier, hatching, general health of birds, egg production, composting, etc. Feel free to ask, ive been at this quite a while and grew up caring for and showing birds in 4H.

Here are my Orpingtons, buff and black with my Light Brahma

These are my Red Star production layers, which are 300+ egg/year chickens.

Just looked it up and my county allows 8 chickens.

Considering chickens.

hens are easy af tbh. and u can get into a coop for 50$ or 500$, lots of really cheap options.

biggest variable, do you have a fenced in yard? or close neighbors?

If the neighbors are nice and wont mind an occasional chicken hopping the fence (usually a dozen eggs here and there cools any rage, even scratched up flower beds) you could make a coop as simple as an A frame tractor type, then let them roam your yard.

something like this can be as cheap as 50$
