Hi. I just got a membership on this game. It was only like $7, so I figured why not. Need to kill time while I'm on the clock anyway (working from home).

I have to admit I've never really played Rs much. I was wondering, how much of this game's content can I access without doing a whole lot of fighting? Always been more interested in lifeskill-type stuff in these sorts of games. Mining, crafting items, etc. It's all I did back in my Ultima days.

You can go for something called a skiller if you really want - they don't train combat at all.
Because of this, there are some things that are either much riskier to do, or just not doable, but it's a challenge that some people enjoy.

Although in my opinion combat is some of the easiest skills to max.
But yea there's lots you can do without combat

I like mining so far. Got a metal box and just plug away at that. I can't store silver or gold ore, though???

Edit: Says I need to do some quest... Are there a lot of features like that blocked out by quests?

Yeah so the ore boxes are "new" they redid the mining and smithing skills so I'm sure you've noticed.
You need a box that's a certain tier, but you should be able to put gold and silver in it, check this: https://runescape.wiki/w/Ore_box

I love mining. I made an alt account just to mine for me on the side to pay for bonds haha, lvl 1 everything except mining.

Lots of features are blocked by quests, lots and lots. Quests can unlock some really great stuff that's otherwise not accessible so you should definitely check out a few guides/videos on the best quests to do - I donno off the top of my head

Yes, family crest is required to store gold/silver in ore box.

Looks like I need a pretty high combat level to do that. Guess I better kill stuff.

You could, but it depends how much you play. I'm not sure that mining is the best way, even, I just do it because I enjoy it and it's steady passive income since I play so much

There are several methods to make enough in order to buy bonds for membership, although most require higher levels and combat is by far the best income. I believe gathering materials from archeology is still decent.

definitely give osrs a shot over rs3 if you prefer the mindless skilling
