diablo 2 being good was a complete accident, it wasn't intentional for things to become the melting pot of amazing colliding concepts that it was, and also, blizzard north is gone, and they split off into different companies, diablo 2 is never gonna happen ever again.

no one says it needs to

d4 just needs to be based on d2 which was the last good/true diablo game rather than the diablo 3 dumpster fire that it's currently based on.


while it may be an accident of ideas that made d2 good they have the baseline for something to build on with that game (and they've had it for 20years)
