In 1984 it was the government.

In today it's private companies censoring and bottom-up activists "cancelling".

If there's a more apt story I don't know what it is, but it's not really like 1984 in any way except the aesthetics

Like all companies, its a black box on purpose to avoid lawsuits. They use legal language about terms as an excuse but the real reason is obvious.



Newspeak is telling people that censorship is freedom. They are redefining terms as their opposite to silence and destroy opposition.

You lack any substance in most debate, only splitting hairs for technicality annoyances with no significance or lasting relevance.
