The skill tree if anything was the highlight of that update. As long as they can somewhat balance it I'm all of the style of going deep into a path to reap the rewards.
The key being to not make one skill so over powered that it makes it worthless to go down other paths. D2, honestly did okay with this. I actively played, orb, blizz, lightning, and FB sorcererss for all different purposes depending on ladder timing and pub pvp games (if someone is sorbing).
Some classes were much better than others though. Rare day you see a martial arts assassin, rare the occasional kicker.
This RNG enchant shit I'm not overly sold on.
