Diablo 4 will be perfect, just old gamers can't handle anything new nowadays. BTW d3 sold 50 million copies, sounds like a winner to me.
Blizzard had its name brand behind it. Without a doubt its a success from a sales perspective if you're the CFO of Blizzard, but did players really benefit? There were clear lies, false promises used to generate significant sales. If you had told me there will never be PVP in D3 I would have never bought a copy. But they lied, showed false arena gameplay to string you along, etc.
The player base plunged by nearly 70% after launch if I recall. Although typical for many games to plunge, it was significant for a game that is not supposed to have a definitive end point like a story game.
The sales as a success is Blizzard's success, not necessary a players success in getting a solid game. I think there's a clear distinction that needs to be made between the two. Look at WoD for WoW. Okay, you have the WoW name like Diablo had the past success of the Diablo name (D2). People buy copies, everyone realizes this has not at all met expectations and sub numbers dived to the point where Blizzard stopped publishing them.
Goodwill goes a long way when being a consumer. People will often buy a piece of shit because the last products they bought from that retailer were not, and they're under the guise of historical results = future results.
