What's the best way to do wiring in cars, say for electronics?

Solder and heat shrink
Crimp
Spade connectors
Twist connectors
Other?

best? build ur own connecters and pins and such.

other than that solder


the rest should only be temp fixes

I've got a pile of wires to connect for a new head unit. Building my own connectors is off the table, I think. Soldering I can do.

yeah, dont use pinch connecters, or wire nuts

that shit is shotty as fuck

For headunits etc just use crimps or solder/heat shrink. Anything under the motor which is exposed to the elements you tend to use raychems. Nothing better.
