Hey,

So I am looking at buying a 08-13 C6.. Just curious of things I need to look out for. I'd prefer a GS, but will take a Z06 or even a base for the right price.

Have a local lead on one here, however 4th synchro is going out and I'd rather not have to rebuild a trans if I can.

I know the infamous valve drop with LS7 heads, but is there anything else I should really be aware of?

Thanks

The C6 is a pretty solid car all around. The valve issue only affected the 427 engine, besides that I would say there's nothing out of the ordinary to look for. Like any used car, there could always be problems though.

Base or GS (GS IMO) the Z06 had some issues as did the 427.

If your going to do all the work your self, then if you can afford the Z/427 I would go that route thought.

I was looking for C7s for the longest time. Made several offers before Covid- and the current market on them is nuts. C7s have gone up like $5k+ on avg for M7/Verts since April. So I started looking a C6 GS and some nice onces in the low/mid 30s. (I only look at Convertible Manual models)

Yeah so I've noticed the increase in price lol.

Been real picky with what I'm looking for. Same boat really as you just a targa top manual

SHits insane, it blows.

You should check out corvetteforums as well. Sometimes you can find a nice deal there if you dont mind travel/shipping.

09+ gets the bluetooth connectivity. (even though it kinda sucks)

Are you solely getting an 08+ for the TR6060?

If you're getting a high mileage Vette, be cautious of some of the sensors, they tend to go out a lot (The oil pressure sensor behind the intake manifold failed on both my old vettes [01 Z06, 08 Z06]).

Use the "ranger technique" for flushing your clutch master cylinder, replacing the slave cylinder isn't cheap/fun and will leak/get air when neglected.

I'd say the valve drops are about as common as the E46/92 M3 bearings and W204 C63 headbolts. But if you're too concerned over it, I probably wouldn't recommend a Z06.

I got my heads/cams/exhaust on day one, so I wouldn't know about my old one.

Here's pictures when I was at Corvette Invasion 2018.

I'm going the grand sport route. Kinda like the idea of a LS3 car more so than "heads are done" posts lol.

But yes, I want a TR6060 over the T56 cause I do not drive my cars easy and they all eventually end up with some sort of power beyond what's really "supported"

Good to know with the sensors, any way to know they've failed or just notice in in the DIM?

It's easy to notice, it'll read as maxed out. The info will read 125+ Psi and the gauges will look like the following.

Ended up with a super sonic blue grand sport. Did the paint correction on it and I think the paint shines great now 😎
