My real surprise was how many votes he got in general. The margin was small and his vote was more than I expected.
yeah he did pretty well as far as votes go. There was more of an air of 'wow both these candidates are awful and i wont vote for them'
he got a decent amount of media coverage (a good amount of it bad) and he wasnt seen as threatening.
Now its 'wow the other guy is so evil i'll vote for whoever'. A lot of it purposefully driven by media and big tech.
I dont expect great LP numbers this year.
3rd parties treated like the plague in media this cycle. seen as a threat to both sides.
The candidate is fairly boring and pissed off a lot of libertarians with unwise early messaging. The party itself is in a civil war.
the 2016 VP pick was an establishment fraud who defected to the democrats. Johnson's main opponent in 2016 left for the GOP but is still a libertarian. (Ron Paul strategy)
The party's direction going forward should be interesting.
However there are a few key states this year where Jorgensen is allegedly polling above the spread. complete fiesta time.
