• 17 starters
• 50 backups

For context on those totals compared to the universe of NFL players:
• 2.6% of training camp rosters
• 2.4% of NFL starters

*Total NFL Players to Date:
67 NFL players have opted-out of the 2020 NFL season from 29 teams, including 17 starters and 50 backups
67 players represents 2.6% of the 2,560 players that will be on training camp rosters (80 players per team)
17 starters represents 2.4% of the 704 starters (22 offensive and defensive starters per team)

32 teams with 53 man rosters, not to mention all the coaching staff/team doctors/other personnel.

We're talking thousands of people. It'd be very difficult to create a bubble in that scenario.

NHL/NBA teams have far fewer personnel and even NBA cut it from 30 to 22 teams allowed in Orlando.

Yeah I agree it would be very difficult and extremely costly

But so will shutting down in the middle of the season.

it would be extremely costly and it wouldn't work. i just simply don't believe there is a way to contain that many people safely and effectively

especially when you consider the demographic (hot-headed, egotistical, 20 somethings with millions of dollars who want to go out and party)


better to cut your losses and gear up for next year than try something that has probably .000001% chance of actually working.

This is my concern. All it takes is a couple of people acting like dipshits and then suddenly you've got hundreds of people across dozens of teams infected and the season is done.

I neeeeeeeeeed some football in my life, but I'm anticipating a shortened season at best.

Everyone entering the facility has to have 2 weeks of negative covid testing. I just did a private signing, and one of the players still practices 3 times a week with the current team, he said he has to get tested everyday in order to enter the practice field. It's flawed though because he said a current player could meet with me to sign stuff, so I could be exposing him. All 3 players I talked to today said the NFL season will not happen.
