Yeah I feel like that was kind of a given. He was still signed for 2 more years at a total of 27.6m for the two years combined. So 427.6m over 12 years is only 35.6m...I assume the "north of 400" is gonna be at least 450m or he doesn't even break 40m per year.

Makes sense to me. Probably a good deal for all involved. Will want to see how backloaded it is though.

Ooh if they do a % of the salary cap then that'll be truly unprecedented. Always wondered when it would happen.

I would assume with covid and the likely large dip in salary cap for the upcoming next couple of seasons that tying it to the salary cap would make the most sense. There's no way to project what the salary cap numbers will even look like over the next ten years with all the uncertainty. If I had to guess, since the chiefs have absolutely no cap space left for this season, I'd assume it's a fairly backloaded contract with a lot of guaranteed money so that they could still get the deal done and likely re-structure it in the last few years of the deal.
