The Libertarian Party decided to have a bifurcated convention, with an online portion that selects the nominees for President and Vice President and an in-person portion of the convention at a later date that will cover party leadership positions and bylaws.

There are several competing factions in the LP.
One of the biggest points of contention is radical principled libertarians vs incrementalists/moderates vs left-'libertarians'.

Prez/VP decided today
Speeches, drama, infighting, headaches and stalling are also on the agenda.

The primaries were non-binding and the delegates at the convention choose who will be nominated through a runoff voting system.
A candidate will need 50%+ to become the nominee.

They just gave out nominating tokens for presidential candidates.
The candidates who qualified for speeches:

Jacob Hornberger 218
Jo Jorgensen 193
Vermin Supreme 103
John Monds 95
Jim Gray 89
Adam Kokesh 58

I saw something from Nick Gillespie on Twitter that several LP delegates were working to try to nominate Justin Amash as the LP candidate. Amash replied that he would not accept the nomination if it was given.

We are very conservative fiscally but we are liberal socially.

Thats right.
27 people used their tokens to nominate him, which I believe was 3 short of the threshold for consideration.

Ill make a quick summary of the candidates for those who are not aware:

Hornberger: Principled Libertarian. Abolitionist.
(End all tariffs, trade restrictions, trade wars, sanctions, and embargoes. End the Drug War. Abolish the federal income tax and the IRS.)
fff.org president and founder. Endorsed by the Mises Caucus.
Pissed some people off by criticizing Amash for his lackluster media performances, non-libertarian messaging and some policies.
Advocates spreading the ideas of liberty over pandering for short term votes. 'Campaign of Principle for the Party of Principle'

JJ: Former LP VP nominee(1996). Somewhere between a radical and a moderate.
PhD and psychology. Joined party in 1983.
Has pretty solid libertarian minarchist polices, but less radical messaging.
Prioritizes building up the party w/ down-ballot work.

Supreme: Satirist with a boot on his head. Activist. LibSoc.

Gray: Moderate statist-lite. 2012 VP nominee.
Had the support of prags before Amash entered the race.
Popular libertarian Larry Sharpe's running mate.

Kokesh: Anarchist. Veteran. Activist. Youtuber.

Monds: Joined the race late but seems fairly good.
First African-American candidate to appear on the ballot for Governor in Georgia.
First LP candidate to receive over 1M votes (2008 statewide race)
Has an "Anti-platform": End the Drug War. Bring the troops home. Cut spending. A platform of things government should STOP doing.
