I am saying no to this, unless you can toggle it on / off to be visible, I feel people are allowed to change their names and fall of the grid, times times people do that for personal reasons. While yes people do it in the betting forums, there’s a reason why those forums run scripts to show paid back of blacklisted people, so they can’t hide from that history.

There is many reasons for wanting to change ones name, I list mine willingly in my profile as I have no fear, but the next person may have a different story.

Voted Yes. It'd be nice to see previous names of certain users, specifically for this reason:

I went through depression. I pissed off some people during that time. Sorry.

Since then I've been harrassed, trolled, lied about, framed, dealing with the FBI, and more.

I can't wait to change my name. Not only that, my name is from a time of being a major stoner. If I want to leave the past behind me, I should be able to.

Why not? Change is essentially, so is letting go of the past. It's also a means of protection. That being said I can understand wanting to keep things legit with people, but that is what warn and forum gold lock is for. At the end of the day the main staff is what keep things in order, and us that use the forum simple decide if it's the right thing to do or not.

Holding onto the past via account name is the same idea of displaying someone warn log for everyone to see indefinitely. This idea is asking for trouble by audience, and doesn't necessarily reflect that individual now, if it ever did to begin with. It will also increase the demand on mods for unnecessary drama and multis. This idea of history name change takes away more freedom than it has to offer. Why would you want that?

If you have a problem with someone, if you have been scammed, you add them to the blocked list or make an appropriate post. Or more. Problem solved. Something JSP figured out long ago.

I simply don't believe that the argument of "They were accused of scamming in the past, but nobody could prove it so we deserve to judge ourselves and that part of the past should never, ever be forgotten even if the person was innocent because I believe he was not"

Is a TERRIBLE argument. I understand where you're coming from initially, but after reading that I changed my mind.
