started out with the free version of ninjatrader to test the live servers vs continuum demo servers. and to see how far i could get w/ 1k. started using michael chin's scalping strat, some of my own, and mostly just DCAing up/down a candle dependent on its move. always went for a 0.75 point scalp. snowballed the 1k up to around $1711 (total was $2100 or so, but the free version annihilates your profits with commission fees). was trading the micro e-minis.
that was day one. i was like holy crap this is amazing. i then started to do some premarket trading the next day on the 25th. i should have ate humble pie. felt too cocky, and started trading the /ES for more gains (got up to $3100). after an hour or so, i got annihilated. 2x forced liquidations ($25 fee and $50 fee).
gonna go back to square one and just stick with /MES. should have stayed with that, but the greed got to me. a lot of lessons learned that i can't write out. good lord what a ride
edit: with that said, i think futures trading is my style. quick little session in the morning and then be done for the day. freedom of time is key. i still feel like i'm spending too much time with stocks. gonna take all my $ out of all 7 broker apps i have, and just make sure the roth ira is filled per year and do ETFs long term. gonna do a bit of futures just to get my fix in
