Where did this global shortage of sea containers come from.

I just recently purchased one for cold storage in winter but now we're seeing rising pricings in dry goods here as a result of higher costing containers.

Been building up over the past year or so. When Covid happened and lower shipping happened they all got sent to remote places and nobody wants to pay to bring them back empty.

What do you mean where? Have you been isolated in a cabin for the last 2 years?

We have a mass abundance of them where I am and yes I do live extreamly isolated in the high Arctic. I don't have tv and I guess I just havent come across this during my morning coffee when I go online in the day to read.

Interesting though. I just purchased a 20ft for 700. I'm in one of those places no one wants to bring them back from I suppose.

Every one scared of rona, leading to constant lock downs of ports, cities, etc.

Supply chains are a huge mess right now. I listen to a podcast and they talked about (months ago) how the price of shipping has absolutely gone parabolic, containers that used to cost 5k are now 16-20k.

I've been away on vacation for two months and haven't yet returned, I'll have to see what our resupply of goods costs now given all our dry goods only come in once a year via ship after the Arctic ice melts in August.

Won't be supprised if a box of cereal is 20 bucks I guess.
