Has anyone else experienced this and figured out a way to kill him without him freezing and becoming invulnerable?

I had this. Reinstalled. It worked.

Apparently if you damage him while he is transforming then he bugs out. I use dot skills so this is a pain in the ass. Finally killed him though...
