Ummm I think they both play extremely well for what they both bring to the table.

Also, Jrue > Smart, but if I'm building a team, I would rather have Smart, only because I believe his defense + size + verticality + and high intense motor will always allow him to All Defense at least until he retires. I would like it if the guy could learn not to take so many fucking 3's... Makes my head spin sometimes.

The fact it took him so long to get All-Defense from his peers/coaches amazes me.

That being said to the original topic, who would I take?

Tatum.
But who would I love to put next to Tatum?
Simmons.

Who had a chance to do that?

76ers.

__

The whole Simmons cannot shoot, therefore he sucks is the dumbest argument you guys are making while ignoring everything else he does great. I don't know... leading the league in steals, passing, defense, rebounding, fast break transition offense..

The problem with Simmons is his ego, seems like a dick, and unfortunately he is sort of a bitch so there's that.

Literally that's Jrue Holiday, except Holiday is taller, more athletic, and a far far FAR better offensive player and just as good defensively.

Okay last post I'm going to reply to you, if you're just homer the shit out of everything.

Their the same height at 6'3, Smart sports 6'9 wingspan, Jrue has 6'7 wingspan respectively.

More athletic? Highly debatable... Smart had one of the best draft combine test results, continuously makes amazing plays where his 36 inch vertical helps. I would say their both athletic, I wouldn't say anyone is more.

Far far better offensively? Sure. But Jrue's getting paid 26.5 million to the tune of Smart's $12 million is an absolute steal which I'll take any day over Jrue's.

Jrue is a great perimeter defender, but I would wager to say Smart is definitely more versatile.

That being said, people need to put some respect on Jrue's name.

Jrue is 6'4'' my guy

And Jrue is every bit as good as Smart defensively, hence the All-Defense selections the last two seasons (one of them a 1st team selection).

Jrue is so much better than Smart it's not even worth talking about. I can't believe anyone in their right mind would actually try to compare Marcus Smart to Jrue Holiday.....like i have a lot of respect for Smart, he's a great defender but this isn't even a comparison if we're talking overall players. One is a legit 20/8 guy who can take over offensively and carry in the playoffs on both ends, the other can't even score in the double digits and shoot 40% from the floor...

Jrue is a top 30 NBA player. Marcus Smart is...not even close to that.

Basketball reference has him as 6'3.

Jrue's been in the NBA for longer, of course he should have more... I would wager to say Smart has been robbed of at least one All-Defense.

Ugh I give up, like sure the discussion of Smart vs Jrue is kind of dumb. But you're clearly ignoring the fact Jrue is getting paid $26 million. Also he's done 20/8 once in the playoffs, so there's that...

Also..

All-star games aren't indicative of how successful or important a player is... It's a popularity contest for people who can post scoring numbers, and is well liked by his peers/coaches. It's ridiculous how much All-Star selections play in proving whether or not a player is HoF caliber.
