The Pelicans are 9-3 in their last 12 games. With some quality wins over good teams.
They had caught my attention when they defeated the Rockets, 127-112 in late December.
The only teams with more wins during that time frame are the Bucks and Jazz.

They're 4 games back from the 8th seed with the West's easiest remaining schedule.
Brandon Ingram is averaging 27/6/6 on 61 true shooting %. Zion is coming back in 5 days.
Lonzo Ball is still shaky with his shooting but he can deliver some beautiful passes and assists.

Let's say Zion Williamson's return sparks some extra excitement and momentum...
And the Pelicans end up in that 8th seed. Can they give the Lakers a tough series in the first round?

When New Orleans drafted Zion they were pegged as the team of the future. They're on the right track if nothing else.

If I weren't a loyal Houston fan I'd jump on that New Orleans Pelicans bandwagon so fast!

They remind me of the 2009-2010 OKC Thunder when they were loaded with so much young talent.
That Thunder team went 50-32 with a very young Durant, Harden, Westbrook and Ibaka.

I'm not saying Zion, Ingram and Lonzo are young superstars like OKC's trio but certainly they're promising players.

Maybe I'm just depressed with Houston sports lately. The Rockets played like crap this week on top of everything else.
If the Rockets beat the Lakers on Saturday night, prime time game on ABC, I'll probably get over my Pelicans crush.

My next door neighbors are huge fans of the Saints and Pelicans. They give me crap daily about the Texans and Rockets. LOL

I think he's a special talent. He reminds me of a shorter but bulkier Shawn Kemp.
Kemp was an athletic freak of nature at 6'10 and 230 max. Zion is 6'6 and 285 or 290.
The injuries have slowed Zion Williamson down but I'm ready to see his NBA debut.
