Why are Iron Golems so vulnerable to having Life Tap cast on them?

In all other circumstances my Iron Golem survives just fine. However, I've lost a couple Iron Golems in Chaos Sanctuary and it seemingly has something to do with the Life Tap curse. Is there some sort of interaction between Life Tap and the Thorns aura that the Golem has? Would creating the Golem from a low damage weapon instead of a high damage one help with his survivability, or are Oblivion Knights just his nemesis regardless?

Sorry I don't have your direct answer.

I have seen ppl play eth pride iron golems with the necro holding a beast in hand. He claimed 4k damage per skele, and said that the iron golem was a chicken and would normally run away from battle. Regardless, I assume you have high points in mastery and golem? If so, then you may have to use teleport to control him.

my golem has only died 2 times from diablo himself but thats cos i was clumsy... if u just stomp spam dia he wont keep lock and ur golem should never rly die otherwise.

also consider putting points in blood golem to increase iron golem life.

I appreciate your efforts and replies :) However, my question remains unanswered: What is the interaction between Iron Golem and Life Tap and why does he take so much damage when the curse is cast on him?

if i take ur post literally, u mean ur golem died 2-3 times when it had lifetap on. the chances it died just regardless of the lifetap r very high... so it could just be that lifetap has nothing to do with it.

unless u go out of ur way to test it out 40-50... u cant just say it was cos of the lifetap.

My dear friend and fellow Circus member, you can base a hypothesis on a small sample size. Read up on causality. Though my golem only have died twice, I've carefully observed how his life drops when he is cursed :)

it's a known bug and it doesn't happen with a low damaging weapon but I have never seen the explanation for it

just tested it myself and u r correct that it only takes damage when its got life tap on. knowing blizzard its probably just a bug.

but i'd say to ur point of it dying, dunno if urs died in full game or 1 player game cos when i tested it it was in 1 player game and he was still not taking that much dmg to get 1shot. took about 5 hits to get to 60-65% hp. ive made him from elite weapon.

if ur inquiry is to make it avoid dead and not just curiosity, i think maxing out blood golem for the life bonus would make it so that it doesnt die even in those cases.
