So i bought a i9-9900kf and figured I could throw my kraken x41 cpu cooler on it.

The box says "compatible cpus"
1150 1155 1156 1366 2011 2011-3

Im assuming the 1151 socket wasn't introduced at the time the kraken x41 was released?

No, the x41 seems to run out of cooling potential at cpus around 84 watts

the 9900kf is a 95 watt TDP chip stock.

You would wan't a 140MM AIO to run it at stock. 240/280 To actually overclock it further.

Ill keep an eye on the temps while gaming and upgrade to a better cooler next month. Thanks for the tip :D

It should be fine at first. But after like 15-30 minutes of a sustained load the loop will get saturated with heat, thats when bad things happen like throttling, it can also cause the loop to evaporate coolant/ fail early.

I closed the game immediately lmfao. Sounded like I was in an airforce base and the temp kept climbing within 5 min if starting up modern warfare.

Ima invest in a new cooler asap. What do you suggest? 2x140mm or should I go bigger.

Cpu Was peaking at 5ghz at under 40% load 🤣

280MM would be the best AIO.

If your case can't fit it a 240MM would be fine, maybe not as much OC headroom though.

this is what my build consists of atm.

E/ i wont be playing with overclocking at all since I have no experience with it. That's why i got the i9-9900kf so I wouldn't have to do it myself

E2/ Would 360mm be overkill?

It might be a little bit, but if it's not a huge jump in $ why not.

Just be 100% sure your case can fit it.

/E After doing some research the 95 Watt TDP intel lists on their site is complete bullshit, people are seeing it hit 200 watts sometimes under full load. which makes sense why your x41 exploded like right away.

with that new info I'd say 280/360

240 could get saturated unless you went push/pull on both fans with a high fan curve.

I want to be able to run pretty quiet. Im willing to spend up to 300-400 for a new cooler. It bothers me if my computer sounds like a jet taking off. The case will fit 3 140mm fans id just have to drill some holes in the case which isnt an issue
