just updating to my previous thread about my current car (thread too old to update)
https://forums.d2jsp.org/topic.php?t=81141413&f=140Currently 210,000 and was told my crankshaft needs to be replaced
soon.
Had the car appraised at local Toyota dealership and price was $1,200... which imo makes no sense.
Think I'll just drive it until it absolutely breaks down.... Price I was given for complete fix on my corolla was $600... i
s it worth fixing it for $600 or is fixing the car not worth it anymore? No problems yet, just want to be cautious
At what point does fixing my corolla become no longer reasonable? It will probably be at 250k miles by the end of the summer. My brakepads are surprisingly finishing very often, almost every 3months they seem to be needing a replacement.
I looked around cars.com and saw that the price of a Toyota Land Cruiser 100-series nearly 20 years old at 150k miles goes for $10,000.... (and this is the most reasonably priced one I see... rest at $8,000 for 180,000+ miles)
That seems a little insane to me, although I love the look of the car and the personal experience of driving a Toyota with very minimal problems, this price just seems insane. How much of this price is honest and how much is it completely inflated?
The "toyota reliability" and the current SUV craze I can see how the price is going over the top a bit... however I do know that these land cruisers were built to last for 30years and the cost at the time was $50,000 in ~2002.
Price of $10,000 seems reasonable to an extent considering all that but... is it insane to buy a used 150k 20year old land cruiser for $10,000??This post was edited by HouseofGuards on Dec 23 2019 04:32pm
