video is fascinating did my own research and apparently its not fake news as far as we know. However how could something have existed before the big bang and within our neighborhood? I always thought the milky way was a young galaxy.Curious to hear what fellow nerds have to say about this.

1. The star age estimate is wrong
2. The age estimate for the universe is wrong

Likely both since these are estimates based on different lines of data and have significant error.

Google says the error for this star can be several hundred million years, and the age of the universe also has error bars of like a billion years so as long as they overlap (and even if they are just close to overlapping) its not an issue

what, if the big bang was not the first one and universes are expanding and collapsing periodically, probably with the same basic matter involved???

If the universes collapsed the star wouldnt survive. It would be collapsed with the rest of the universe

very true^^^^ we only see the "visible" universe. People don't seem to understand what that means. We only see until to the point where the stars expand at the speed of light, but actually the expansion never stops, it is not bound to the speed of light.

yep universe has to be older than we think recently the discovered our galaxy is an ancient one hehe. yea the visible universe thing is if the universe is only 14.5 billion years old it has to be 14.5 billion light years across which is false. universe is estimated to be closer to 200-300 billion light years across.

i heard that but either figure im pretty sure still has that star predating the big bang which changes alot if it is indeed 100% correct.

right now the universe is expanding faster than before by dark matter in theory. now near the end of the universe molecules and elements will start to break down and only few stars and black holes will remain. going on that theory how could a big bang happen again? the universe repeating itself theory doesnt apply there imo.now the universe shrinking back down to size almost like an inflated balloon losing air could support the theory of a repeatable big bang. Also would explain how some things could be left over from the previous universe. Or black holes literally do create universes and all the matter collected by the black hole eventually pops creating a new universe.

There's a lot of speculation on how the universe might end. May be a crunch, or a rip, or neither
