Upon the officer's arrival, without any attempting at communication, a man ran at a police officer with a knife to murder the officer. The officer retreated, and when it was clear the criminal would not stop chasing, the officer fired to defend his own life.

You people are rich. You like to talk about how police "don't stop crimes". If this man was willing to murder an officer on sight, what would have happened to the civilians in the home had the officer not arrived?

Yeah, this is pretty cut and dry. You can see the knife in the guy's hand in the video (looks similar to a K-Bar style knife), and the guy was charging at the cop. Sure, you could make arguments about whether police or social workers should have been dispatched, but in this specific case, it looks like a social worker would have ended up dead. This is a pretty straight forward justified use of force scenario.
