Just remember what you did... because new Windows Updates may break it again.
Sooner or later the complaining will force MS to either not update drivers with Windows Updates, or at least make sure their updates won't break drivers.

In the meantime...folks are working on how to selectively block Windows Updates. They HAD success, but MS changed something and now they're having problems again. I guess this will happen occasionally until MS feels it in their bottom line.
Mainly seems to happen with the BIG updates, like when they go from 18xx to 19xx (Windows 10 builds). Otherwise, it seems users don't have very many if any issues with driver corruption.

Well check the CBS log file... it's possible MS has a fix for this.
I mean it did say: For online repairs, details are included in the CBS log file located at
windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log.

/e That would be... C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log

/e Also might wanna check here. People are having similar problems... https://www.tenforums.com/general-support/136980-pc-freezing-while-idle-windows-1903-a.html

I've seen a ton of failures to upgrade to the 1903 build of Windows 10 being caused by an incompatible version of the driver iastorA.sys. Try renaming that file (located in C:\Windows\System32\Drivers) to iastorA.old, install the latest Intel Rapid Storage Technology drivers (the SetupRST.exe download from this site: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/28966/Intel-Rapid-Storage-Technology-Intel-RST-User-Interface-and-Driver?product=35125), then retry the 1903 upgrade.

Check for the presence of that file anyway. If there, rename it and just run the upgrade. If not, you'll need to analyze the CBS log for what files failed SFC repairs.

Well system restore... or a backup if you use backup software... BUT... soon as you online... Windows will update itself again.
