Hey guys,

First off when it comes to networking and stuff like this I am no genius.

I have 400 download 50 up speed cable internet.

I have Nighthawk X6 R8000 router. has 3 bands

Really havent had problems in the past at all. wires or wifi.

Now my 5.2ghz wireless runs great no speed problems at all

but now my 2.4 which one of my laptops (it can only connect to this band) if i am playing a game by itself no problems fast. If I watch twitch while playing it is soooooo slow , and the twitch wont really lag but everything else will example browsing or gaming. as soon as i shut twitch off everything instantly goes back to good speeds. i dont believe it is a bandwith problem.

any help would greatly be appreciated!

Edited i forgot about this My xbox was lagging trying to play with a game going on my computer and playing an xbox game was lagging so bad. with no twitch going . switched to 5.4 on xbox no problems at all now. i feel like i cant do more than 1 thing or i lag. maybe just not twitch maybe multiple things . but i never had this issue before why would it be bandwith?

update!

i switched channel number from auto to 11 and the router needed a firmware update. can this sometimes fix issues?

would a firmware being out of date cause speed issues?

yeah no problems for about an hour and half since update and channel 11 dont know which one fixed it did both same time. you think a channel # or a firmware update would fix it which one more plausible?
