ok that makes sense. i was a bit confused, maybe i missed them talking about that when him and askeladd had that one on one conversation.

It was a given pretty much after the events of that battle with Thorkell.
not only did Bjorn get messed up fighting off all those that chased after the prince, he got stabbed pretty damn bad after that.
Then shown in this ep it was clear it was a fatal wound.

Being Vikings and all, only great warriors get passage to Valhalla (this topic was touched on before)
Which meant Bjorn in his last moments choose to die the viking way. in battle (in this case a duel)
he even asked Askeladd about his injuries making sure he was capable so soon after, tbh he probably held out so long just so he could fight him due to his feelings towards him.

Super good ep

Binged through all 21 episodes over the past day and a half. One of the best shows I've ever seen, curious to see how it continues to develop.

Anyone familiar with the source material know how much more content we have for animation? I'm praying for at least one more season worth before a hiatus.
