I have just started dabbling in inkscape and see that there are issues with simply erasing parts of objects/lines.

I am trying to have overlapping objects, and would like to delete the lines/shapes that shouldn't be seen, and the only thing I have found to work at least in the program itself
is drawing another shape or series of lines and matching the stroke/fill to the color background so it is no longer visible.

I'm thinking this may work for simply covering the lines I do not wish to see, but will cause problems if I should want to take the design and attempt to print it/send it to a vinyl cutting machine.



Anyone have experience here / any input? I have been struggling on google/youtube finding explanations that I can wrap my head around
