Sup boyze, need some insight.

Graphics card started showing distorted lines all over the screen yesterday... ( RIP ) Nvidia GTX580

It's Alienware Aurora R3 that I bought in 2011 ( i know , alienware boohoo )

The PC specs:
-intel i7 2600k (overclocked ) liquid cooled
-16gig ram DDR3 1600hz Default Alienware RAM
-NVIDIA Geforce GTX 580 ( DIED YESTERDAY )
-850W power supply
-Default Dell/alienware motherboard...
-Soundblaster soundcard
-1TB Western Digital HDD
+ minor things I guess

Right now I'm only thinking of changing the graphics card...
My question is...
With this computer spec, If i were to replace the fried GTX580 with, lets say a MSI RX 580 ARMOR 8G OC ( like 280$ )

Would I still be okay if I wanted to play most games at medium graphics?
What would you recommend.?

should be fine considering its over dbl the performance and the last card worked for you.
Might wanna OC that cpu though.

I was thinking about the Nvidia GTX 1050, it's like 130-150$..

So for 150$, what would you guys suggest? Keep in mind my build was running a GTX580..

Would the 900 series be better than the GTX 1050? or for that price should I go with AMD?
