The 1080 Ti is a bit faster. The improvements that the 2070 bring are not that important... at this time. Maybe in say, 7-8 years they will be. But until then...

Lol maybe not be important to you
And 7 to 8 years lol
Why do you think dxr has fail back layer? For it to take 7 to 8 years
Why do you think all engines are adding rt? For it to take 7 to 8 years?
But i do agree you don't buy anything for the future
You buy for now and clearly 1080ti is the better card right now

I'd bet money that RTing would be commonplace for at least 7-8 years. Even the RTing that the 2000 series provides is really RTing with cheating. It's not real complete RTing.
DXx, hasn't really been all that, since DX7. There are always these side by sides showing the miniscule difference, but other than that... pfft.

I actually have a bucket list...

1. See real consumer level RTing.
2. Own a real Dick Tracy watch. Complete A/V communications the size of a regular wrist watch.
3. Real true voice control of computers. Oh, a keyboard, how quaint. :D
4. And ofc, get to sleep with a few select female celebrities. Which probably won't happen. :D

certainly couldn't have anything to do with Nvidia funding, and stopping production on pascal cards...

"rt" has a lot of kinks to work out before i would ever consider it an "improvement".

anyway, 1080ti by far.

What are you talking about it it is real time ray tracing
Wtf you think rt and Tensor cores are for?
All the things apis and devs are doing is putting software layer in so they arent alienating other manufacturers

Lol so you don't think amd had input on dxr?

Fyi you can get many rt benchmarks now

I didn't say real TIME RTing. I said real RTing. We don't have a personal computer that can even attempt FULL real time RTing. They just don't have the horsepower yet.
For better explanation.. watch the Nvidia video when they first announced it. They even admit it's like... baby RTing. They explain the FULL real time RTing would in effect, melt the vid card. :)

i would doubt nearly as much as microsoft or nvidia does. maybe i'm wrong.

it is still a rushed design to end the pascal line.

rush adding and using tensor plus rt cores

That's how things move forward

Don't get ray tracing confused with path tracing or any other
2080ti is what? 10 gigarays per second?
First step in the evolution
Real time rt is the big thing its what devs been wanting for decades

Operative phrase. 10 GR/s seems a lot, but nature beats that 100x over, or more.
